The car that started the craze of Subcompact SUVs in India was undoubtedly getting blurred due to the lights of the Maruti Vitara Brezza and the newly launched Tata Nexon as well as Renalut Captur. Ford needed to update its most successful car in India, and here they are with the new Ford Ecosport 2017, which has gone through a mild facelift to give a tough competition to its rivals.

The Ford Ecosport 2017 gets a new face, now it supports a single big grill, which has been moved up a bit with the Ford logo at the center.
The grill looks bolder and the chrome outlining dominates.
New Ford Ecosport 2017 comes with bigger projector headlights including beautifully designed DRLs. The indicators have now been pushed down next to the fog lamps.
Ford Ecosport 2017 looks more appealing when viewed from the sides, thanks to the newly designed alloy wheels. The titanium model gets 16-inch alloy wheels while the titanium+ model offers more stylish 17-inch alloy wheels.
The rear of the Ford Ecosport 2017 still looks the same; no changes have been made at the rear, as according to Ford, they didn’t want to mess with design that already works well.
The radical change has been made on the inside of the new Ford Ecosport 2017. The center console has been completely redesigned with the new 8-inch touchscreen system.
There is a new instrument cluster which although looks neat but is not that appealing. The Ford Ecosport 2017 gets a newly designed steering wheel with paddle shifts(only in automatic variant) and steering mounted controls, which looks perfect, feels nice and soft.
The central AC vents have been moved down below the touchscreen system. The AC control system is borrowed from the Ford Aspire and Ford Figo.
The cabin has been made more practical, you get 2 illuminated USB ports, bigger cup holders, new front armrest with storage option.
The most remarkable upgrade is the new 8 inch touchscreen system, which is not only smarty designed but it has been placed smartly as well. It looks way too forward but surprisingly is more practical and easy to use. It misses out on navigation but you get android auto and apple car play. The screen looks bright and touch responds well.

Thus, the cabin of the new Ford Ecosport 2017 is fresh and a lot more practical, although the quality of the plastics used could have been better.
Comfort Level in the Ford Ecosport 2017 –
The front seats of the new Ford Ecosport 2017 are wider with better side bolstering and softer cushioning.
The back seats are a bit more supportive than the previous one, but it lacks legroom as compared to the Tata Nexon and the Maruti Vitara Brezza. The seats are not wide enough as well to accommodate 3 passengers comfortably. Moreover, no rear AC vents which are quite common these days.
The boot space remains the same with 350L.
Under the Hood
The big change in this new Ford Ecosport 2017 is in its engine. The Ford has now discontinued its earlier 1.0L eco-boost petrol engine and has replaced it with the new all aluminum 1.5L, 3 cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine(known as DRAGON ENGINE), which generates a healthy 123 PS of power and 150 Nm of torque. This engine is more compact and lighter than the previous one. It also has a balancer shaft to reduce the amount of vibrations.

This is an aspect where the Ford Ecosport 2017 scores well. Dual airbags and ABS with EBD comes standard across the range. The top variant comes with 6 airbags. You also get the speed sensing auto door locks, emergency assist feature, which automatically calls emergency services in case of an accident. The automatic variant gets hill launch assist as well.
